Evaluation and implementation of academic technology for teaching and learning

As Chair of the College’s Faculty Technology Review Committee, I’ve been involved with the selection and implementation of a learning management system, web conferencing tools, online proctoring, eText and publisher learning assets, virtual simulations, computer lab hardware and software, mobile devices, and other educational technology to support teaching and learning

Leveraging technology to provide effective online instruction

As an Adjunct Faculty in the Information Technology Management Program, I use technologies such as the Canvas LMS, Zoom, virtual lab simulations, eBooks, streaming media, and NearPod to enhance the learning experience for my students. The first week of every semester I host a meet & greet session that doubles as an introduction to the course navigation, materials, assignments, and tips for success.

Immersive learning through virtual reality

I led a research project in collaboration with the Center for Teaching & Learning to study virtual reality as a tool to improve learning and engagement. Over a year-long study I worked with faculty across a variety of disciplines to integrate virtual reality into the curriculum, demonstrating an improvement in the mastery of course learning outcomes and student engagement.

Graphic Design Student Leadership Group

In 2018 I collaborated with the Chair of the Graphic Design Program to create a student club focused on creating 360 video content. I purchased 360 cameras and virtual reality headsets and loaned them to interested students and faculty across our campus libraries in NY and NJ.

Augmented reality scavenger hunt

In this collaborative effort with Student Development & Campus Life, I reinvented New Student Orientation at the Berkeley College Paramus Campus through an augmented reality mobile scavenger hunt. In this gamified learning activity, students are placed in the shoes of a detective, trying to solve “The Mystery of the Stolen Laptop”.

Read more about this project in an article I co-wrote for Marketing Libraries Journal.

Canvas Innovation Taskforce

When the College migrated from Blackboard to Canvas I was charged with leading the Innovation Taskforce. One the many features we implemented was an integration with Alexa. Students can interact with their courses via voice commands to find out grades, upcoming assignments, new announcements and more.

Video editing and eLearning tools

I’ve utilized tools such as Camtasia Studio, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, LibWizard, iMovie and GarageBand to create interactive learning content, and to support student content creation efforts. I've led training and created documentation on the use of these tools.
